The new Ford Mondeo goes on sale this month and is available with a choice of diesel and petrol engines - in five-door and estate body styles plus a four-door petrol electric hybrid priced from £20,795.
It features new technology such as adaptive LED headlamps; adaptive front lighting and it can also automatically park itself in parallel and perpendicular spaces and according to Ford avoiding pedestrians which may stray into the cars path.
The SYNC 2 connectivity system features an eight-inch colour touchscreen which operates the phone, climate control, satellite navigation and entertainment system using voice commands.
The new Mondeo has been awarded the maximum five-star safety by Euro NCAP. Innovative equipment includes the Inflatable rear seatbelts which in the event of an accident expand to disperse crash forces offering extra protection to rear passengers. Pre-Collision Assist with pedestrian detection designed to detect people in the road ahead or crossing the path of the vehicle and automatically applies the brakes if the driver doesn't respond to warnings.
Further technology on offer includes Ford's MyKey which enables owners to programme a key (for younger drivers) that can prevent incoming phone calls, restrict the top speed and set a maximum audio volume and Active City Stop which can help drivers avoid low speed collisions.
