The New Ford Mondeo Obtains High Residual Values at Auction

The new Ford Mondeo's launch into the used car market took place at Manheim Auctions, Leeds, on Thursday 4th October.  The new models achieved an average of 114.6% of CAP Clean across the nine derivatives offered for sale with a RV of 76.4%.  All vehicles were 07-56 plate and under 10,000 miles.

Also featuring in this closed sale were four Ford Focus Coupe-Cabriolets – Ford’s first power-operated convertible hardtop car – which achieved an average of 101% of CAP Clean and a residual value of 72%.  Three of the vehicles were 07-56 plate, one was 06-56 and all under 10,000 miles.

Chris Shambrook, Auction Manager at Ford commented: “We’ve been very optimistic about this launch and it more than matched our expectations.  The prices realised were extremely encouraging and bidding was fast and furious, confirming that the new Mondeo is a force to be reckoned with in the used car arena.  One buyer, who purchased for stock, sold his Titanium X estate within 24 hours of its return to the dealership.”

A total of 93 buyers registered for the event, which was also broadcast via Simulcast – Manheim’s internet link to a live auction where remote buyers, unable to attend in person, can bid online.  During the auction 152 vehicles were sold and 33 of those went to the 55 registered online Simulcast bidders who logged in during the course of the sale.

John Bailey, CEO, Manheim, UK and Europe, said: “We were very pleased to have been awarded this important new model launch and obviously delighted with the outcome.  As always, these key benchmark models generate major attention in the market and the new Ford Mondeo has certainly made an impressive used car debut.  The level of interest and the prices achieved send out some very positive messages to the market as a whole.”
