Superchips announces Ford Fiesta Remap

Frugal, stylish and sharp to drive, it's no surprise that the Mk VII Ford Fiesta is Britain's best selling car. Yet with a mere 88 bhp on tap from the popular 1.6 TDCi variant (raised to 95 bhp on March 2010 onwards versions) few would ever call it pacy or exciting.

But now Superchips Ltd can remedy this situation with an affordable, performance boosting upgrade. This ECU remap provides a significant power gain for both the 88 bhp and later 95 bhp versions of the hugely popular Ford Fiesta 1.6 TDCi, as well as boosting fuel efficiency.

Dyno testing has shown that the Superchips ECU remap for the Ford Fiesta 1.6 TDCi boosts power by a significant 23 bhp at 4275 rpm, resulting in a sharper, more fulfilling and rewarding drive, with power gains right through the engine's operating range. Indeed, based on this dyno testing data the Superchips upgrade enables the 1.6 TDCi Ford Fiesta to outgun the current performance flagship Zetec S's 118 bhp output, yet combined with turbo diesel fuel economy.

Similarly, the Superchips ECU remap provides a useful boost to the Ford Fiesta 1.6 TDCi's torque output, producing an increase of 36 Nm at 4159 rpm. Crucially, these gains are produced right across the rev range, enabling Ford Fiesta 1.6 TDCi owners to enjoy livelier in-gear acceleration for overtaking and additional urge that results in effortless cruising, irrespective of load or terrain.

Critically, at a time of record diesel prices in the UK, despite the marked performance increase, the Ford Fiesta's much praised fuel efficiency remains unaffected by the Superchips ECU remap. In fact, in most instances consumption improves due to the extra low rev torque available to the driver. Independent testing of Superchips ECU remapping on turbo diesel vehicles has proven that this is typically in the order of 7-8%, resulting in attractive cost benefits for higher mileage drivers or fleet users.
