The Ferrari 458 Speciale joins its two siblings, the 458 Italia and 458 Spider, as a lightweight addition. It is going to cost around £235-240,000 mark when it hits the UK.
There has been a weight reduction of some 90kgs off the 458 Italia - with the 458 Speciale weighing in at 1,290kgs.
It features the same V8 4497 cc power plant as the other models, but with an increase of 35 bhp from 562 bhp to 597 bhp and a weight reduction of 8kgs. This equates to a 0-62 mph time of 3 seconds (0.4 sec quicker than its siblings) with a maximum speed of 202 mph - it is also capable of 0-124 mph in just 9.1 seconds. It is only 0.5 of a second slower around Ferrari’s test circuit at Fiorano at 1’23”5 than the mighty F12.
Weight saving measures are across the car, even the thickness of the glass used has been reduced to cut weight, while the rear windscreen is now a Lexan panel. The interior features Alcantara and carbon-fibre light weight Sabelt seats, pretty much everything else has been thrown out or modified to reduce weight.
