Japanese compact car specialist Daihatsu has maintained its ambitious growth plans for 2004 to reach a 10 year high, after adding one new dealer every week throughout the first half of the year.
The dramatic rise has brought Daihatsu’s total UK network to 111 dealers, its highest number for a decade.
For car buyers, of course, the growth means increasing likelihood of a Daihatsu dealer opening in their local area.
For Daihatsu, meanwhile, it has helped towards increasing sales, which to the end of July 2004 were 16.25 per cent higher than for the same period in 2003.
Spearheading the sales surge are the new Charade super city car, for which Daihatsu is offering £300 off and three years’ free servicing until 30 September, and the Copen roadster with its electrically operated hard folding roof, which until 30 September is available with free leather at participating dealers.
Operations Director Paul Hegarty said: "We are working hard to ensure we make our cars as accessible as possible to those customers looking for compact cars at equally compact prices.
"We are delighted with our network development to date and are determined to add even more dealerships and bring the benefits of Daihatsu to even more towns and cities across the UK."
Places that have seen new Daihatsu dealerships open in recent weeks include: Wickwar, Long Eaton, Solihull, Macclesfield, Bury St Edmunds, Barnsley, Bransgore, Dundee, Hatfield, Jersey, Gloucester, Cheltenham, Cinderford, Ampthill, Swansea, Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth.
And more are due to open at Liverpool, Lowestoft, Maidstone, Newbury, Ruddington and Chatham.
