The new 2015 Dacia Duster has gone on sale priced from £9,495 for the entry level, Access 1.6 16V 105 4x2 model, which is exact the same as the old model, which went on sale in mid-2012.
The revised Duster isn’t new model but it has been give a bit of makeover for 2015, including new grilles, rood bars and upholstery designs. There is still a choice of either two or four-wheel-drive with the Duster being built at Dacia’s plant in Pitesti in Romania. There is a new colour line-up with five new metallic colours - Mercury, Khaki, Pearl Black, Slate Grey and Cinnamon which are available on the ‘Ambiance’ and ‘Laur�ate’ models.
There is a choice of two engines, with the Access model being powered by a 1.6-litre 105hp/148Nm petrol engine, where the rest of the line-up feature a diesel 1.5-litre unit with either 107hp/240Nm output for two-wheel drive models, and 109hp/240Nm on the 4x4 editions.
The petrol engine is capable of 0-62 mph in 11.5 seconds and a top speed of 104 mph (4x2 models) or 12.8 seconds and 99 mph (4x4). Fuel consumption and emissions on the combined cycle 39.8/165 g/km (4x2) and 35.3/185 g/km (4x4).
The diesel will accelerate to 62 mph in 11.8 seconds with a top speed of 106 mph (4x2) or 12.5 seconds and 104 mph (4x4). -Fuel consumption and emissions on the combined cycle 56.5/130 g/km (4x2) and 53.3/135 g/km (4x4).
There are three trim levels, ‘Access’, ‘Ambiance’ and ‘Laur�ate’ - the Access is equipped with a Hassium cloth interior, 16-inch Eiger steel wheels, remote locking, a Thatcham-approved engine immobiliser, electric front windows, anti-lock brakes with Emergency Brake Assist, Electronic Stability Control and Traction Control, a Tyre Pressure Monitor, four airbags, an ECO driving mode and gearshift indicator and a four-speed heating and ventilation system. Body-coloured bumpers, black door handles and Duster-branded roof bars and bumpers are all standard - and are only available in Glacier White. The ‘Access’ model is available as either 4x2 or as 4x4 model which gains a differential lock with 2WD, Auto and Lock modes.
The mid-range ‘Ambiance’ gains Osmium cloth, Matterhorn 16-inch steel wheels, satin chrome door handles, a chrome gearlever insert and instrument surrounds, a radio/CD player with AUX and USB sockets and Bluetooth, front fog lights, a height-adjustable driver’s seat and a 60:40 split rear seat.
The top-of-the-range ‘Laur�ate’ Duster comes with 16-inch Tyrol alloys, manual air conditioning, electric mirrors and rear windows, cruise control with a speed limiter, a seven-function trip computer, a glovebox light, a passenger vanity mirror and body coloured door handles, satin chrome Duster-branded roof bars, scuff plates and side sills. There are piano black interior door handles, door and steering wheel inserts and centre console surround, a leather-covered steering wheel and map pockets in the front seat backs.
You only get a spare wheel on the 4x4 model; otherwise it is £150 option for 4x2 editions. Other options include, MediaNav an extra £300 on the ‘Laur�ate’ edition, you can opt for leather for £995 which probably an unwise investment and there are a number of other packs.
The Duster is protected by a three-year/60,000 mile mechanical warranty plus two-year paint and six-year anti-corrosion protection.
