In addition there are free electric vehicle recharging facilities in a number of central London car parks. Apart from these London benefits the Berlingo Electrique also benefits from low fuel costs (as little as 45p to recharge), free Road Fund Licence and a Government grant of up to £3,750 off the purchase price of the vehicle.

As a result, in recent weeks, Drivelectric has now supplied some dozen Berlingo Electrique vans to London-based businesses, including florists, film companies and delivery companies. One of Drivelectric’s most recent customers is Impact Distribution Services Ltd. This North London based company has just taken delivery of its first Berlingo Electrique for use on its central London based leaflet and poster distribution operation.

Impact Distribution Services works throughout London and the South East distributing posters and other promotional material for theatres and galleries. Its new Citroen Berlingo Electrique, which is expected to be the first of a number in the company’s 14 strong van fleet, is being used on an intensive, multi-drop operation in central London, which sees it carry out over 30 deliveries per day.

Zoltan Hoffmann, director of Impact Distribution Services, explains, "This company is strongly committed to minimising the environmental impact of its business. By using the Citroen Berlingo Electrique our central London distribution business benefits from a quiet, smooth, easy to drive vehicle, which has low operating costs and zero emissions. We also benefit from the major financial gains of exemption from Congestion Charging and parking charges."

Impact Distribution Services expects to keep its new Citroen Berlingo Electrique, which will cover around 3,000 miles per year, for between three and five years.

Drivelectric has recently embarked on a relationship with unit[e], a supplier of electricity sourced from 100 per cent renewable resources (wind and hydro-electric). This means that if the vehicle is recharged using unit[e] electricity, it is truly a 100 per cent zero-emission vehicle from "well to wheel".
