The new Audi S1 and S1 Sportback will go on sale mid-March 2014, with the first cars expected in the spring of 2014.

The all-wheel-drive S1 quattro range is priced from £24,900 and is available with both three doors and as the five door Sportback edition.

The New Audi S1 Engine Line-Up

The S1 is powered by a new 2.0-litre TFSI engine mated to a short-shift six-speed manual gearbox. It produces 231PS and 370 Nm of torque, which can propel it 0 to 62mph in 5.8 and 5.9 seconds (Sportback) and then on to a top speed of 155mph.

Audi quotes 40.3mpg on the combined cycle for the three-door version and 39.8mpg for the Sportback, equating to 162 and 166 grams of CO2 per kilometre respectively.

The New Audi S1 Dynamics

The S1 runs on as standard on 17-inch wheels with 215/40 R17 tyres with the option of 18-inch alternatives.

The S1 features Audi drive select adaptive dynamics system, which allows the driver to vary the response of the throttle and the operating parameters of the electronic climate control across a number of settings, including one designed to optimise efficiency.

Audi S1 Exterior

There are xenon plus headlights coupled to LED rear lights as standard. There are two new exterior colour palettes - ‘Vegas Yellow’ and ‘Sepang Blue’ in addition to the standard A1 finished. There is an optional quattro exterior styling package incorporating a sculpted roof spoiler.

Audi S1 Interior

The interior is finished in what Audi call dark tones, there are high gloss air vent sleeves have a piano black finish, the instruments feature S-specific dark-grey scales, and in contrast the pedal caps are in brushed stainless steel. The Sports seats are a combination of Milano leather and Olympic cloth upholstery.

Core equipment includes electronic climate control, a six-speaker single CD audio system with auxiliary iPod connection and SD card reader linked to a 6.5-inch retractable colour display, a Bluetooth interface and a Driver’s Information System.

Audi S1 Options

You can opt to have S sports seats finished in black Fine Nappa leather with more pronounced bolsters and integrated head restraints. And there is even a quattro interior styling package which includes these and adds a choice of three colours - high gloss black, red or yellow - for sections of the backrest.

The quattro styling package adds a flat-bottomed leather multi-function steering wheel with contrasting stitching in silver, red or yellow, door armrests in black leather with contrast silver or yellow stitching or in steel grey with contrast red stitching, air vents in high gloss black with a red ring and a high gloss black, red or yellow finish for the centre console. And there are black floor mats with double piping in contrasting colours.

Other options include key keyless access and ignition system, hard disk-based MMI navigation plus, the Bose surround sound.
