The third generation Audi RS 4 Avant is to be launched in the UK hopefully in September 2012, with pricing and an exact launch date to be confirmed.
What we do know is that it will be powered same 405PS V8 engine that we have seen in the Audi RS 5.
The 4.2 litre engine delivers 450PS at 8,250rpm and 430Nm from 4,000 to 6,000rpm. Which is enough to launch the four-wheel drive Audi RS 4 Avant from 0-62mph in 4.7 seconds and then onto a limited 155mph, which can be lifted, in which case the top speed is increased to 174 mph. Audi quote a combined fuel consumption figure of 25.7 mpg.
Everything is driven through a standard seven-speed S tronic transmission which can be left in a fully automatic mode or you can change gears manually using the selector lever or the paddles on the steering wheel. There is also Launch Control, which manages the engagement of the clutch to achieve an optimum starting speed with minimal wheel spin.
More details to follow.
