September's Paris Motor Show will see
Volvo unveil its first ever V8 engine fitted to a production model
and display 2005 model year cars from the rest of the range.
The new V8 will be fitted to the Volvo XC90 SUV. Mated to a new 6 speed automatic gearbox, the 4.4 litre engine will deliver 315 bhp, accelerate from 0-62 mph in 7.0 secs and be the first V8 to meet the forthcoming Euro 5 requirements.
Volvo expects to sell 15,000 XC90 V8 models worldwide next year. Production starts in early 2005, but this new variant will not be available with right hand drive in the UK market.
