Volvo S60 T5 SE

How It Looks - Interior

The interior styling of the S60 T5 is the epitome of Swedish style combining both functional elements and understated elegance. The cabin exudes a high level of build quality and the fascia has been angled towards the driver for maximum ease of use. In fact the dashboard is home to a vast array of logically positioned controls which look as though they may have been borrowed from an aircraft but fortunately they all correspond to the comfort and convenience equipment of the S60.

Our test car had Sisal leather-faced sports upholstery as standard and mesh aluminium trim (£250 option) which subtly enhanced the cabin's looks. Various coloured leathers and walnut wood effect or black mesh trims are available If this colour combination is not to your taste. The steering wheel and handbrake lever are leather encased and the space ball gear knob (standard on the T5 manual only) had an aluminium ball-shaped base.

The leather upholstery and trim fitted to the S60 complies to a strict standard called Oko-Tex. Oko-Tex sets maximum levels for dangerous substances contained within textiles and trim materials which may help to reduce tension, allergies and skin conditions related to such materials.

Geza Loczi, the chief designer in Volvo's California Design Studio concludes that the S60 'is a family car with a sporty attitude'. This philosophy is reflected throughout the design of the S60 and encompasses the family priority of storage.

There are cupholders in the dashboard, front tunnel console and two set within the rear armrest which also features a storage box. There are also pockets in the front seat backs and incorporated into the front of seats (front seats) for the stowage of maps etc and a rear waste bin.

In Car Entertainment and Satellite Navigation

The S60 T5 SE is equipped with a 4 x CD in dash changer with Dolby Pro Logic surround sound with 4 x 50W amplifier and 9 speakers. The stereo controls are steering wheel mounted keeping your hands on the wheel for maximum safety.

Remote control and steering wheel joy-stick switch control the excellent but optional DVD-based RTI (Road and Traffic Information) Navigation system with Europe DVD map.
