There are also the following model-specific changes

S40 and V40

  • The S40 and V40 ranges are rationalised from 54 to 42 variants, and despite extra specification across the range, many prices are reduced – by up to £860 for the 2.0T Sport Lux
  • Leather upholstery is now standard on all models (worth up to £940 on S); while SE and Sport Lux models gain an electric driver’s seat. The 1.6 S is available without leather upholstery for £500 less, meaning S40 and V40 on the road prices now start from just £13,980 and £14,980 respectively
  • Sport and Sport Lux models now have white-coloured side markers, larger 17in alloy wheels and sports instrument dials. Sport models also benefit from leather upholstery (formerly a £500 upgrade)
  • New ‘Business Pack’ includes Sat Nav (plus cruise control and electric driver’s seat) available for £1,100 (Sat Nav was formerly a £1,200 option)
  • The T4 and lower powered 1.9D (102bhp) engines are discontinued

S60

  • The S60 proved more popular than ever last year with over 9,000 registered in the UK
  • Prices stay the same for the whole S60 range, except the Bi-Fuel, which gains a tyre sealant kit with 12V air compressor, and increases by £50
  • Electric folding rear head restraints (worth £120) have been added to the ‘Premium Pack’, which only increases by £50 to £1,150

V70

  • V70 sales increased by seven per cent last year, it won more ‘Best Estate’ awards and continued to be the top seller in the large estate car sector. No price changes – except Bi-Fuel models which increase by £50
  • New ‘Titanium-Line’ paint finish – Titanium grey pearl bodywork with silver metallic side, front and rear rubbing strips and roof rails – now available
  • New 2.0T petrol model introduced at same price level as D5 diesel (2.0T S £24,025, 2.0T SE £26,125 on the road)
  • DSTC (Dynamic Stability and Traction Control) and information centre added to S models (worth £620)
  • Rain sensor added to SE models (worth £145)
  • Rear spoiler now available to order as a factory fit option, for £250

C70 Convertible

  • No changes to prices (from £24,860 on the road) or specification
  • Titanium and a new ‘Sky Blue’ exterior colours available, plus the new choices of Volcano Red or Linen White soft leather upholstery

S80

  • Details of exterior and interior refinements of the new 2004 S80 were announced recently, and it is expected in showrooms in June
  • Prices of the new S80 range are now available
  • Active ‘Four-C’ active chassis, offering the choice of Comfort and Sport modes, is available as a £1,100 option on all models (except Bi-Fuel)
  • New 2.0T model available from £22,870 on the road
  • S models gain: Dynamic Stability Traction Control (DSTC), information centre, new ‘Phoenix’ alloy wheels, illuminated vanity mirrors, warning triangle and first aid kit (worth £660)
  • SE models gain: Rainsensor (automatic windscreen wiper activation), luggage restraint belt, electric folding door mirrors with ground lights and new 17in ‘Stentor’ alloy wheels (worth over £345)
  • The optional £1,300 ‘Premium Pack’ for SE models gains Bergen Leather/Alcantara sports upholstery and walnut wood trim (worth £1,450)
  • The optional ‘HU-801’ audio system, available for £850 for S and as £350 upgrade for SE and Executive models, has been upgraded to include a more powerful 4x75W amplifier with 8 Dynaudio speakers and one centre surround speaker

XC70

  • To better reflect the XC70’s superior luxury specification in comparison to V70 and XC90 models, the XC70 S is renamed the SE, and the SE becomes the SE Lux. The engine range continues with the D5 and the new 2.5T engine
  • New 16in ‘Xenia’ alloy wheels available as a no cost option

XC90

  • A set of four 17in Michelin Synchrone ‘Road and Snow’ tyres are now available as an option for £200
  • A DVD rear seat entertainment system will be available as a dealer-fit accessory in June. Full details will be announced shortly
