Volvo Car UK Appoints New Sales And Marketing Director

Volvo Car UK Limited has appointed Simon Munn to the new combined role of Sales and Marketing Director, as of 1 October 2002.

This appointment follows the promotion of former Sales Director, Hugh Reid to Managing Director on 1 September, and Gerry Keaney’s move to Vice President, Sales for Volvo Car Corporation in Sweden.

Simon Munn, 39, graduated in Management Sciences from the London School of Economics in 1983. He joined Volvo in 1984, assuming a variety of roles in the areas of Supply & Distribution, Field Sales, Product Marketing and Business Planning. In 1995 he was appointed Marketing Strategy Manager for Volvo Car Corporation’s newly formed Global Marketing division in Brussels.

In 1999, Simon moved to the Far East to take up the position of Marketing Director for Volvo Cars Japan, and was subsequently appointed Managing Director in 2001. During this time Volvo became the fourth largest imported car brand in Japan.

Simon returned to Volvo Car UK in May this year as Regional Communications Manager responsible for the marketing and advertising strategy across the UK, Belgium, Netherlands & Eire.

Commenting on his promotion, Simon Munn said: "I am delighted to be given this new role and the opportunity to manage the sales and marketing process.
