C70 Convertible: Fun In The Sun
The Volvo C70 convertible special 'Collection' edition is still available for a limited period. Its soft leather interior available in toscana tan or off-black with contrast stitching, plus unique 17in Otrera polished alloy wheels and a range of three turbo engines are some of its many stand-out features. Prices start from £26,578 for the 2.0T, (or available for £379 a month with Volvo Advantage finance).
S80: Executive Saloon
Fresh from its makeover last year, for 2005 the Volvo S80 saloon offers an improved drive thanks to the addition of a dynamic chassis for all models, revised front anti-roll bars for 2.4-litre petrol and D5 diesel models, and the 2.0T engine gains dual CVVT (continuously variable valve timing) for better flexibility with more torque at lower revs (240Nm now available from 1,850rpm instead of 2,200rpm). Service intervals for all five cylinder petrol engines have extended to 18,000 miles (or one year). In addition, a retuned, second generation of Four-C active chassis is also available with 'Comfort' and 'Sport' settings.
The 2005 Volvo S80 is more comfortable thanks to new front seats with a greater range of adjustment and slimmer head restraints to improve visibility for rear seat passengers. S models now have upgraded Kalmar textile/leather sports upholstery, while SE models gain a new 6xCD audio unit and door mirrors with water repellent glass. In addition, the optional Premium Sound audio system is available with a 325W, nine speaker surround sound system by Danish audio experts, DynaudioTM.
The range-topping 'Executive' model is also upgraded with new seat design and soft leather upholstery, DynaudioTM Premium sound audio, Bi-Xenon headlights with wash/wipe, and metallic paint as standard.
XC70: Rugged Good Looks
Like the S60 and V70, the AWD XC70's rugged styling and luxurious interior also receives a makeover for 2005, gaining new looks, improved quality and the introduction of new features such as Volvo's second generation Four-C active chassis with Comfort and Sport modes, and water repellent glass for side windows and door mirrors.
XC90: Top Of Its Class
The XC90 continues to be extremely popular all around the world. Since launch Volvo has increased production by nearly 50 per cent to 90,000 units per year, which has improved availability and reduced waiting lists in the UK to between six to eight months. The only changes for 2005 models are new seats with a greater range of adjustment and slimmer head restraints, water repellent glass for door mirrors, and T6 engine models have a larger petrol tank (from 72 to 80 litres). The top of the range Executive model also gains body-coloured door mirrors and a greater range of new soft leather upholsteries.
