These feature lowered sports suspension, front and rear spoilers, side skirts, 18in alloy wheels, 'rally bar' (front strut stiffener) and unique 'Dala T-Tec' interior upholstery. In addition, there are new options across the range including a passenger airbag cut-off switch, laminated side windows for greater security, and a new 'keyless entry' system that automatically unlocks the doors when the key is nearby and has a switch on the dash for starting the engine.

The four-cylinder 1.8 (125bhp) petrol engine is now available, starting the Volvo S40 range from £16,098 (On The Road) (or £199 a month with Volvo Advantage), while the 2.0D (136bhp) engine is now Euro IV compliant.

V50: The Cool, New Sportswagon

The range-topping 220bhp T5 is now available with AWD (All-Wheel Drive) and is also one of the models available with the stylish, new 'Sport' and 'SE Sport' trim*. The new options of laminated side windows and 'keyless entry' system are also available for Volvo's V50. The Euro IV compliant 2.0D engine is available from £18,913 (OTR), and the four-cylinder 1.8 (125bhp) petrol engine now starts the V50 range from £17,348 (OTR) (or £239 a month with Volvo Advantage).

S60 and V70: The New, High Performance 'R' Arrives

The new-look 2005 S60 saloon and legendary V70 estate recently made their world debuts at The Sunday Times Motor Show Live featuring a host of exterior and interior refinements and improved specifications, quality and style. Volvo also introduced important new safety features such as water repellent glass, and passenger airbag cut-off switch, and announced its innovative Blind Spot Information System (BLIS).

Now details of the high-performance 300bhp 'R' models have also been released, which include a second generation Four-C active chassis that's been retuned for UK roads. There's many exterior and interior changes including new front and rear bumper designs with body coloured front spoiler, side rubbing strips and lower side mouldings, and water repellent glass for door mirrors. The new R models have a revised "Spaceball" gearlever, tunnel console and centre stack design with new audio controls.
