Volvo has been awarded twice at the British Insurance Vehicle Security Awards 2011, held at the Motor Insurance Repair Research Centre in Thatcham.

The Volvo C30 win the Best Small Family Car category, whilst Volvo Cars was awarded Thatcham's International Vehicle Security Award.

Accepting the award for Best Small Family Car on behalf of Volvo Cars was Martin Bayntun, Media Relations Manager at Volvo Car UK. "It gives me great pleasure to receive this award. It is in recognition of Volvo's continuing commitment to ensuring that not only are our customers safe while being in our vehicles, they are safe in the knowledge that their car is secure when out of sight."

The Volvo C30 features a number of standard security features, including remote central locking with deadlocks, an anti-theft alarm and immobiliser, a level sensor and optional laminated side windows for extra security.

Volvo has recently announced an evolved version of its current system, Volvo On Call, a mobile application for iPhone and Android mobile phones, which can be equipped on model year 12 vehicles, which provides the owner with the option to remotely check the status of the door locks and windows. The system will automatically send an alert if the alarm is triggered.

The British Insurance Vehicle Security Awards were established in 2004, to recognise manufacturers who have produced the most secure cars and to raise awareness of the latest security innovations.
