Volvo C70 Road Test
Published: 15th August 2007
Volvo C70
What We Liked
- The steel powered folding roof
- Exterior & interior styling
- Audio system
- Safety equipment
- Overall driving experience
What We Disliked
- The fuel consumption is on the high side
What We'd Like To See
- The handling could be a little bit more dynamic
Build Quality
Excellent build quality - very solid. The Volvo C70 is well put together and the materials are perfectly in keeping with the car. The seats looked as though they would withstand the riggers of family life and top down driving.
Value For Money
The C70 range starts at £25,750 which seems pretty reasonable for a car with this level of standard safety equipment. You do have to watch out for the extras - i.e. Satellite Navigation is a whooping £2150 - best left for when looking for a used example. Demand for the C70 should remain quite high and this should help to protect future values.
Overall Opinion
The Volvo C70 is a great package, our only criticism is that the handling could be a little more dynamic but it did not interfere with our enjoyment. The steel folding electric roof is a boon, its puts the C70 head and shoulders above the competition. It feels secure and safe for all year round open top motoring. There is also more internal room than its chief competitors the Audi A4 and BMW 3 Series cabriolets.
If I had a need for a convertible then I would buy a C70, I might be tempted though instead of the Sport spec model we dove to spend the extra £3555 and buy the SE Lux model to gain the Dynaudio system, leather upholstery, powered seats, etc.
In summary the C70 comes highly recommended, and goes straight to the top of our convertible shopping list.Volvo C70 Road Test Conclusion | |
