The Volvo XC70 and XC90 competed with nearly 70 rivals to win two accolades at 2009 4x4 Magazine awards, the UK's biggest and most comprehensive annual 4x4 review. Up against the cream of the 4x4 crop, the rugged Volvo XC70 go-anywhere premium estate car beat the likes of the Audi Allroad and Jaguar X-TYPE AWD to take the top spot in the best 4x4 Estate category, while the Volvo XC90 received highly commended status in the family class. the full story
For 2009 enhancements to the Volvo XC70 premium estate include several new additions to the SE Lux specification including Active Bending Lights, heated washer nozzles, Load Compensating Suspension and chronograph instrument dials. The Volvo XC70 also receives an updated RSE (Rear Seat Entertainment system) which now features larger eight-inch flat-screen monitors built into the front seat headrests. the full story

It is hard to believe that the XC70 has been around since 1997. Its launch was said to mark the arrival of a new car segment, one that combined a luxury estate with the off-road capabilities of an SUV.
