Peace Of Mind Motoring With Volkswagen Ready For Winter Check

With temperatures falling below zero and the exceptional summer a distant memory, Volkswagen retailers are offering all drivers a comprehensive ‘Ready for Winter Check’ for safe, peace of mind motoring.

Winter conditions place much heavier demands on a car, with cold starts, plus increased use of heater systems, headlights and the rear demister taking their toll on a car’s well-being. With this in mind, it is wise to ensure that everything is in good working order.

The check involves a visual inspection of the car’s key operational systems and components, including the lights, oil, battery, cooling system, tyres and exhaust.

A written report is then produced for the customer, highlighting any potential problem areas.

Check list

  • Lights – operation and alignment
  • Oil level and leaks
  • Clutch fluid level
  • Drivebelt condition
  • Battery condition and fluid level
  • Brake condition and fluid level
  • Cooling system condition and level
  • Anti-freeze content
  • Screen wash level
  • Power steering fluid level
  • Tyre condition and pressure
  • Exhaust condition
  • Wiper blade inspection
Not only is the Winter Health and Safety Check a sensible idea, it is also a financially sound one. The small cost of the inspection could translate into a significant saving later on, if, for example, a potentially major fault is diagnosed at an early stage.

In addition, fluid top-ups are included in the price of check, which itself is refundable by the retailer against the cost of a subsequent main service.
