Widest Vauxhall Range Just Raring To Go

The Astra Active adds as standard ABS, stereo radio/CD player, 15 inch alloy wheels, a smart charcoal centre console, gear knob with chrome ring, darkened head and tail lamps, leather steering wheel and body coloured door handles.

If you cared to count the options, you’d discover that Astra comes in more than 80 different models. That definitely means there’s one to suit everybody’s needs, from a four-door saloon through the spacious Estate to the most popular of all, the five-door hatchback.

Signum

The Vauxhall Signum has succeeded in its design brief to satisfy the differing demands of work, family and leisure in one unique, spacious package.

One of its principal assets is in the comfort and space it offers for two rear passengers through the revolutionary GM-patented FlexSpace concept that allows a choice between maximum leg room or more carrying space, allows the two outer rear seats to move lengthwise by 5.1 inches and sees the rear seat backs recline by up to 30 degrees.

  • The occasional centre rear seat can be turned to reveal unexpected storage space. Folding all three rear seats flat produces a cargo area of 1410 litres and an optional fold-flat facility on the front passenger seat means it can be used as a handy work surface for the driver as well as allowing the car to swallow long or awkwardly-shaped loads.

There is more versatility with the multi-functional Travel Assistant that fits between the two outer rear seats and offers passengers two folding tables, a fridge, litter container, cup-holders, a 12 volt power outlet, and a holder for a portable DVD player.

Among the many technical innovations on the new Signum is the swivelling headlamp system, called Adaptive Forward Lighting, that lights up bends and junctions sooner and more brightly than with normal headlamps.

Signum prices start at just £17,995.

Vectra

Vauxhall promised the Vectra would be one of the best equipped cars in class as well as one of the most competitively priced, and it has delivered on both counts.

Prices start at just £14,380 with a straightforward model range – just four ‘luxury’ trim levels – LS, Club, Elegance and Elite – and three now familiar Vauxhall ‘sport’ models in the SXi, SRi and GSi. For a limited period the Vectra Active special edition joins the list.

Latest thrilling addition to the wide engine range is the 175hp 2.0 litre turbo, a development from the 2.2 litre ECOTEC that already sits in the VX220 sports car and other Astra and Vectra models.
