'Leapfrogging' Vectra Named Best Family Car

Published: 17th July 2002
Vauxhall has notched up another award for the new Vectra – barely six weeks after the model went on sale.

And the non-stop winning Zafira was named Best MPV for the third time since it was launched in 1999.

The influential weekly motoring magazine, AutoExpress, named Vectra Best Family Car and said: "The Vectra is simple, yet clever and gives families what they want – comfort, space, refinement, quality, safety, affordability. In one fell swoop, it has leapfrogged every car in the class."

Martin Brown, Vauxhall’s Vectra brand manager said: "Coming so soon after being named in the Fleet World honours, it is most encouraging to have a second major accolade, this time from a major consumer magazine.

"It is a further boost for the Vectra range and will help to bring more customers into Vauxhall showrooms. We are confident of many more awards to come."

Vauxhall’s incredibly versatile seven-seater Zafira people mover was named Best MPV of the year for the second consecutive year – and for the third time since it first arrived on Britain’s roads in 1999.
