Thrifty Car Rental UK has signed a new rental supply agreement with Vauxhall Motors to take 2,800 new Vauxhall cars worth £39 million at showroom prices over the next 15 months.
The bulk of the vehicles, around 1,250, will be the all-new Vauxhall Vectra 1.8LS while the agreement also includes the provision of 650 Zafiras, and smaller numbers of Omega, Corsa and Astra models. Some 10% of the vehicles will be diesels but the majority will be petrol-driven.
The agreement, which is the largest Thrifty Car Rental has ever signed with Vauxhall Motors, commences on February 1 and further consolidates the relationship between the two companies which dates back over six years. During this time, Vauxhall has been one of the key suppliers of vehicles to the rapidly increasing Thrifty fleet.
Thrifty Car Rental UK plans to distribute the cars across its 71-outlet UK network over the coming months, and Vauxhall vehicles will now comprise 25% of the Thrifty fleet.
John Ryan, Fleet Director, Thrifty Car Rental UK, explains: "The Vauxhall brand is synonymous with quality and dependability and these vehicles continue to be extremely popular with Thrifty customers year on year. This is the main reason for us taking such a large number of Vauxhalls on fleet this year and is an important factor in making sure that we maintain our position as a supplier of high-quality, reliable vehicles. "
Karl Howkins, Rental and Programme Vehicle Acquisition Manager, Vauxhall Motors, said: "Vauxhall are delighted to have agreed a fleet deal with Thrifty Car Rental UK to supply a substantial percentage of their fleet during the year 2003.’
Thrifty Car Rental UK is set to increase its fleet base nationwide across its 71 UK locations by 15% this year. Currently holding a fleet of 6,300 vehicles, Thrifty aims to increase its commercial vehicle fleet by 25% and also boost its luxury vehicle fleet by 40% during the course of the year.Published 10 January 2003
