All the accessories have been specifically designed to complement the sleek styling and undoubted capabilities of Vauxhall’s new family car. And there are some innovative new products to help owners get the most out of their new model.
Family motoring holidays will be very much at the forefront of many new owners’ minds right now, so a new way of transporting two bicycles with a tow-hitch mounted bicycle carrier should appeal to caravanners and all lovers of the great outdoors.
A built-in sliding/folding device allows full access to the luggage compartment even when the bicycles are attached, and it can be stored in the luggage compartment.
A new design of aluminium base carrier for the latest Astra provides a secure fixing for bicycles, surfboards or skis, and there is a choice of three sizes of aerodynamic roof box. The largest Premium Sportbox has a capacity of 558 litres and costs £295.
Among a range of storage aids is a net for securing maps, handbags or other loose items to the front passenger seat, and separate nets to fit the sidewalls of the luggage compartment and back of the rear seat.
There is also a waterproof plastic boot storage box to accommodate damp or wet objects, a waste bag that can be fixed to the back of the front seats, and a backpack ideal for children’s toys that also fixes to the back of the front seats, or can be used separately as a traditional rucksack. This is priced at £19.00.
To protect children from the effects of too much sunshine on a long journey, a rear window roller blind in mesh fabric is easy to use and install, while a rain and wind deflector can be fitted to the front doors without screwing or drilling.
Tailored covers are available to provide protection from scratches and stains, including a luggage compartment liner, mat and rear seat protection cover, which costs £38.00. A transparent plastic film is available to protect the rear sill paintwork from scratches when loading and unloading luggage, and there is a range of tailored carpet mats, plus mud flaps for front and rear wheels.
For caravans and camper trailers, there is a choice of fixed or removable towing hitches, plus electrical equipment and extended towing mirrors.
The style conscious can choose front and rear spoilers, side sills and rear roof spoiler. Inside, owners can specify door sill covers with Astra lettering, plus an extensive range of audio systems and mobile phone hands-free kits.
