Vauxhall Announces Improvements For 2005 Models

Featuring a raft of new engines, excellent value sat nav, cosmetic changes and ABS, there’s not one car line without improvements, guaranteeing to leave no buyer disappointed.
Starting with the baby of the family, changes for Vauxhall’s Agila include the introduction of ABS as standard equipment for the Expression - which now makes it standard across the entire range - and the addition of a new 1.2 litre petrol engine with TWINPORT technology mated to a revised transmission. Offering 79 hp with a top speed of 100 mph and a 0-60 mph dash of 12.2 seconds, the new 1.2 TWINPORT engine not only offers superb driving dynamics but also improved fuel consumption - 47.1 mpg combined. Prices for this engine stay the same as those for the outgoing 1.2 engined model - Enjoy costing £7,995 and Design costing £8,450.
Corsa will also benefit from the introduction of the new 1.2 TWINPORT engine, which not only improves power but also fuel consumption. Boasting 79 hp, the 1.2 TWINPORT Corsa leaps from 0-60 mph in 11.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 109 mph. Combined fuel economy for the 1.2 TWINPORT is impressive at 48.3 mpg. And even better, prices for the new engine remain the same as those for the outgoing 1.2 litre choice.
Meriva also receives a new engine – the 1.4 litre TWINPORT petrol engine which debuted in new Astra. This engine replaces the 1.6 8v engine choice currently available in Meriva and offers drivers more power (90PS over the 1.6’s 87PS), a faster 0-60 mph dash (down to 13 seconds from 13.5 seconds), better fuel economy (combined consumption 44.1 mpg opposed to 1.6’s 36.2 mpg) and improved CO2 emissions (down from 187 g/km to 154 g/km). Prices for the new 1.4 TWINPORT engine will be the same as for the 1.6 engine it replaces.
Biggest change for Vectra is the introduction of a Life trim, which replaces the current LS trim. Prices remain the same for Life as for LS. Also new on Vectra is the addition of an all-new six-speed auto box for the 150 hp, 1.9 CDTi engine. This engine/transmission choice costs from £18,055 for the Vectra Energy to £24,225 for the Vectra estate Elite.
A further member of the Vectra family, Signum, is also treated to the six-speed auto option with the 150 hp 1.9 CDTi. This feisty engine and transmission combination replaces the 2.2 DTi auto and costs from £21,845 for the Signum Elegance to £24,945 for the Elite.
A totally new model for the Vectra range is the SRi Navigation, which includes satellite navigation as standard and costs just £500 more than the standard SRi - that’s a saving of £900 over an SRi with optional sat nav.
New options for both Vectra and Signum include automatic lighting, IDSplus (Vauxhall’s acclaimed Interactive Driving System) and rear seat audio.
Finally, for those in the market for an MPV Vauxhall’s class-leading Zafira is specified with rake and reach adjustable steering as standard on Expression and Life for MY05 cars, while Life also receives a CDR500 CD radio player as standard.
