Vauxhall Helps Barnstondale Close The Gap

Published: 2nd December 2003
Vauxhall Motors handed a cheque over for £350 to the Barnstondale Centre, Barnston, towards their Acorn Appeal.

The Barnstondale Centre is an affordable residential centre in a natural setting for groups of young people, particularly those from a less fortunate background to stimulate personal development.

The Acorn Appeal is the centre’s latest campaign and aims to redress the difference in standards across the site. Barnstondale are urgently trying to upgrade their dated out-buildings, as part of their work to help raise the self-esteem of the visitors.

George Jones, centre manager, welcomed the donation, saying: "Vauxhall Motors has been very good to us and we are delighted to receive further help moving the Centre towards our appeal target of £450,000.

"We welcome anyone who would like to volunteer, they can help with practical things like getting a group together to landscape our gardens. Anyone involved in youth development can also come and make the most of our facilities."
