The one-millionth Zafira MPV rolled off the production line at the end of April.
The seven seater ultra-flexible Zafira has remained immensely popular four years after its original debut. Zafira’s UK sales last year, at 43,000, were up by 25 per cent over the previous year. Sales of 7,500 in March were up by 2.5 per cent on March last year – a clear indication that multi-award Zafira remains top of the pops!
Aside from now-legendary interior versatility, the generous space offered and dynamic design, Zafira purchasers also enjoy the benefit of good resale value and economical insurance premiums.
Birthday Plaque Unveiled
Vauxhall chairman Kevin Wale has unveiled a commemorative plaque on the very spot where the first ever Vauxhall car was built 100 years ago. That spot is now a Sainsbury’s supermarket car park near the Thames in Vauxhall, South London.
Remarkably there is still a motor industry link, for the plaque is positioned on the wall of the supermarket’s filling station.
Meriva Prices Announced
Order books have opened at Vauxhall dealers for the exciting new versatile five-seater Meriva MPV – the family car with compact driver-friendly dimensions and hugely flexible interior space. Meriva goes on sale on 2 June.
On the road prices start at just £10,995 for the well-equipped Life 1.6 8v model and rise to £13,495 for the air conditioned top of the range 1.8 16v Design model.
Dualfuel Sales Rise Fast
Rising fuel charges, the London congestion charge and increasing response to environmental concerns have helped see sales of Vauxhall dualfuel cars and vans rise by 60 per cent so far this year. Top selling Dualfuel models are the Astra, Zafira and Vectra. A 1.2 litre LPG/petrol Dualfuel Corsa is now available to order. First quarter sales were 1,053, with the vast majority going to fleet operators.
Spring Health Check
Owners of Vauxhall cars and vans over three years old are being offered a free spring health check by participating dealers and Masterfit centres. The visual inspection covers battery, brakes, clutch, exhaust, steering, suspension and tyres. If remedial work is needed, owners will be given a quotation showing all costs with no hidden extras.
Accident Help On Offer For Vauxhall Drivers
An accident support handbook that can help relieve stress at the scene of an accident by providing everything a Vauxhall driver needs to take stock of the situation is available from dealers. Designed to fit into the glovebox, the handbook presents a three-stage plan to get drivers involved in an accident back on the road as quickly as possible. It includes a dedicated freephone number manned by expert staff waiting to provide advice, a message relaying service, help with insurance, alternative travel and so on.
Signum Set For June Launch
Signum, Vauxhall’s third new car of the year – following VX220 Turbo and Meriva – goes on sale on 2 June. The car is set to redefine the premium car class with a concept that is neither saloon, hatchback, MPV nor estate.
Inside the GM-patented FlexSpace concept provides exceptional comfort for two rear passengers, with a third seat for occasional use. Externally, the long wheelbase and extended body-style are extremely distinctive, and under the bonnet three brand new engines, including an all-new 3.0 litre CDTi diesel, a 2.2 litre Direct and a 175 hp 2.0 litre turbo offer a wide range of power sources. In total Signum has a six-engine choice.
Astra Convertible Opens Up
Vauxhall’s desirable Astra Convertible is even more appealing this spring: a top-value Edition 100 model marks Vauxhall's centenary, and a new range of Irmscher styling cues adds additional personality. Convertible sales are 83 per cent ahead of last year at the end of the first quarter.Published 1 May 2003
