More LPG filling stations
LPG is becoming more readily available throughout the country with more than 1200 LPG facilities at filling stations, so removing one of the factors mitigating against the more widespread use of LPG. Up-to-date details on location of stations can be found at www.lpga.co.uk.
These are some of the benefits of LPG:
- Dramatically cheaper tax rates than petrol, so giving lower costs
- It emits far fewer poisonous gases than either petrol or diesel
- Vauxhall Dualfuel models are covered by the company’s full three-year warranty
- Drivers choose between petrol and LPG at the flick of a switch
- Fleet operators may have their own on-site refuelling facility
- Drivers barely, if at all, notice, any performance deterioration
Fuel cost down at least 30 per cent.
While drivers can expect less in terms of miles per gallon when using LPG compared with petrol, the fuel cost of running LPG vehicles works out at least 30 per cent less than petrol.
Vauxhall dualfuel vehicles are exempt from the £5 a day London congestion charge – a hefty benefit for regular London users.
Cost savings example based on an Astra 1.6 16v hatchback:
- For £10 of LPG the car will travel 181 miles
- For £10 of petrol the car will travel 108 miles
Astra Coupe 1.8 16v:
- For £10 of LPG the car will travel 165 miles
- For £10 of petrol the car will travel 99.4 miles
The figure is based on LPG at 37p per litre and petrol at 77p per
litre, with the Dualfuel Astra returning a combined fuel cycle figure
of 30.4mpg, and the petrol engine model returning 39.8mpg in the
same cycle.
Consumption figures for the Astra Coupe are 27.5mpg on LPG and 35.8mpg
on petrol.
