Vauxhall Zafira

How It Looks - Exterior

There is no mistaking the Zafira's identity with its corporate Vauxhall 'V' shaped grille. Rather than a van with windows as our editor would say, Vauxhall have created an attractive and practical MPV which can accommodate seven people. Although we were not too sure about the rear lights, they strike us as a bit tacky.

How It Looks - Interior

Inside everything seemed pretty family friendly with practical hard wearing materials and surfaces. The switch gear is tactile and well laid out, with everything to hand this is an easy car to drive and use.

Vauxhall have added an aircraft throttle style handbrake which frees up storage space between the front seats. The gear lever has been placed high up towards the dashboard which makes changing gear a breeze.

In Car Entertainment and Satellite Navigation

The Club Class Zafira model is fitted as standard with the CD30 CD/MP3/Radio system with six speakers. However, our test car was fitted with the optional CD70 system (£1250 option) which in addition to the CD30 comprised of a full colour, CD powered Satellite Navigation system and an additional seventh speaker. The navigation system also benefits from TMC which uses the RDS radio signal to broadcast live traffic information, which can automatically re-route the driver in case of road works or accidents on the planned journey. Overall the system was very easy to use and of great benefit on journeys into the unknown.

We also benefited from Twin Audio (£100 option), which allows rear passengers who plug in their headphones to listen and control the volume of either the radio or CD player, if the front seat passengers aren’t using it.
