Vauxhall Mokka ReviewVauxhall Mokka Road Test

It has quite a lot of space inside for its exterior body dimensions, with decent headroom and pretty reasonable legroom all round. Although The Mokka looks quite compact from the outside, it has ample room inside for five leggy adults.

Ride and Handling

Don't expect a magic carpet glide with the Mokka. It rides firmly and is less supple over the bumps than many of its rivals. Over a pock-marked back road it can be a bit fidgety and jarring. Body control is reasonable, and for a tallish car it does not lean too much on the bends. At least, we don't think it does, but it was hard to tell on the strange test route chosen for the international launch in northern Germany, which comprised mostly long straight dual-carriageways with very few bends. That may have been deliberate.

On the few bends we experienced, the Mokka feels a little less composed in its handling than the best of its rivals. Steering calibre isn't too great either, it is a bit woolly and lacks feel.

Ease of Use

This car's strong point is its practical and roomy interior. It has quite a lot of space inside for its exterior body dimensions, with decent headroom and pretty reasonable legroom all round. Although The Mokka looks quite compact from the outside, it has ample room inside for five leggy adults. The car does have good access, with very adequate space for back seat passengers to swing their legs in.

The back seats stow down to extend the carrying capacity, which increases to a maximum 1,372 litres with only the driver and one passenger. The high-lifting rear tailgate opens up to a very large aperture for loading luggage and other kit into the back, and the sill height is lower than that of some rivals.
