There is a range of four new engines joining the Insignia line-up
The new Vauxhall Insignia has gone on sale from £16,279 with the first deliveries expected in October. This is not an all new Insignia rather a re-work of the predecessor to bring it up to date with a more contemporary design, improved equipment and new engines.
There is a range of four new engines joining the Insignia line-up, on the petrol front there is now a 1.4i VVT Turbo (140PS), 1.6i SIDI Turbo (170PS), 1.8i VVT (140PS) and a 2.0i SIDI Turbo (250PS) – the diesel range comprises 2.0 CDTi (120PS), 2.0 CDTi (130PS), 2.0 CDTi (140PS), 2.0 CDTi (163PS) and 2.0 CDTi (195PS) – so there should be engine to suit all.
The 2.0-litre SIDI Turbo (250PS) is available with two or four-wheel-drive with the option of a six-speed manual transmission with Start/Stop function, or a new low-friction six-speed automatic gearbox – which is also available on the 1.6i SIDI Turbo unit.
The new Insignia range includes a range of optional safety equipment such as radar and camera-based assistance systems (including adaptive cruise control and second-generation park assist), and on the comfort front premium seats, and ‘Open & Start’, the keyless entry and start system.
At the front the grille has been modified; it is wider and lower than the predecessor with a new Griffin badge. The rear has been re-designed to look wider and lower with the gloss chrome logo bar positioned lower on the tailgate and LED rear lighting.
There are new leather and cloth trims with improved dashboard materials and decors.
There is completely re-designed centre console and instrument cluster, simplifying the functionality with reductions of controls and new dials. The optional infotainment display has been increased in size from 5” to 8” with a high-resolution colour display.
It has touch-screen functionality which allows drivers to access all functions and sub-menus such as radio stations, song titles, smartphone connection or 3D navigation in an intuitive and safe way. Its illuminated, touch-sensitive surface reacts immediately to finger movements, with even individual letters and numbers being accessible via this method. Up to 60 favourite menus can be stored from all functions and Apps can also be downloaded via the car’s Bluetooth-connected internet.
Vauxhall Insignia Trim Levels – the Range
