Vauxhall are set to unveil the new Corsa VXR at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2015 prior to its arrival in UK showrooms in May.
The 1.6-litre 205 PS turbocharged engine enables the Corsa VXR to accelerate from 0-60mph in 6.5 seconds and continue to a top speed of 143 mph. Compared to the Ford Fiesta ST 0-62mph 6.9 seconds and a top speed of 139mph and the Peugeot 208 GTi 0-60mph 6.7 seconds and a top speed of 143 mph.
Available only as a three door, it features a six-speed manual transmission, CO2 emissions of 174g/km and a combined fuel consumption figure of 37.7mpg.
The steering has been revised for improved feedback, the ride height has been lowered by 10mm, Michelin 215/45 R17 tyres are standard as are 308mm front brake discs. In competition mode the traction control is inactive and the ESP is less intrusive – ESP can be fully disabled for track use. An optional performance package which includes Drexler limited-slip differential, Brembo front brake discs, 18-inch alloy wheels and more focused FSD damper settings. Safety equipment includes two-stage switchable electronic stability programme (ESP), traction control (TC) and Frequency Selective damping (FSD).
There are six unique exterior colours available including Flash Blue to complement the new aggressive styling.
Standard equipment includes: Bi-Xenon headlights, rear spoiler, twin Remus exhaust pipes, Recaro seats, leather flat-bottomed steering wheel, sports pedals, VXR gear-lever & instruments, heated front windscreen, and Intellilink connectivity.Published 6 February 2015
