Vauxhall Astra TwinTop

With my 11 month old son in his ISOfix child seat behind the passenger seat, his feet were touching the back of the seat and we felt that the seats are more for occasional use.

On the Sport model which we were driving you get manual air conditioning with a four speed fan - it worked well, especially on those hot days when the midday sun was too strong to lower the roof.

How It Looks - Exterior

The Astra TwinTop's design is both bold and modern and incorporates the unmistakable Vauxhall V-shape corporate nose and styling characteristics that include the elegant crease line that runs from the radiator grille into the cabin and on down the rear of the car.

As the roof folds into three parts into the boot Vauxhall have been able to keep the sprit of the Astra. Rivals such as Peugeot’s 307CC have to have a larger bottom (boot) to accommodate their two fold roof which in our opinion isn't so aesthetically pleasing.

How It Looks - Interior

The interior styling of the Vauxhall Astra TwinTop is modern, stylish, functional and uncluttered with chunky and tactile switchgear. The charcoal interior plastics are of a good quality and are enhanced with a metallic/carbon fibre effect trim.

Both the seat fabric and carpets are of a good quality and should prove durable in the long term and could brush off the very occasional light shower, should 26 seconds not be quick enough to raise the roof.

In Car Entertainment and Satellite Navigation

Our car was fitted with the optional (£1250) CD70 stereo radio, single slot CD player (MP3 compatible) and Satellite Navigation with colour monitor.

The navigation system is relatively easy to use and it is quite fast at re-plotting routes when you make a wrong turn. On the downside it doesn’t allow you to enter full post codes and as our own home post code is centred on a village some 3 miles away it is not overall helpful. The CD70 was fitted with TMC which broadcasts real-time traffic information enabling the navigation system to re-plot routes to avoid accidents or road works.

Helpfully and safely the stereo, trip computer and Satellite Navigation can all be controlled from the steering wheel.
