With retailers across the land trying to tempt customers into their showrooms to stock up on sofas, white goods and carpets before the end of the year, the message to 'beat the VAT rise' has never been clearer.

But if you call into your local participating Vauxhall showroom between now and the end of November 2009, there'll be no VAT at all to worry about.

That's because Vauxhall will cover the 15 per cent equivalent to the VAT cost of any new car, provided it is registered before the end of 2009.

Vauxhall Retail Sales Director Rory Harvey said: "Customers across all walks of life are aware that VAT will be going up again as of 1st January, so we wanted to make sure that anyone buying a new Vauxhall car would have the opportunity to avoid paying it altogether.

"This initiative will save motorists thousands, with reductions of over £4,000 on selected Vauxhall models - more than enough to cover the extra cost of the VAT on the rest of their daily purchases throughout the New Year and still leave them with cash to spare!"

The unique initiative will be offered at participating retailers only and is not available in conjunction with any other offer.
