Motor Sport day at the British International Motor Show saw
Toyota's hybrid rally car the Prius on display.
The sporty hatchback, which is powered by both conventional fuel and an electric motor, is the first hybrid rally car to enter and finish an official FIA-sanctioned event - the 5,000 mile, three-week Midnight Sun to Red Sea Rally.
Finishing a creditable 15th place in the race from northern Sweden to Jordan, the Prius took in all manner of testing terrain and weather conditions.
A Toyota representative said: “We wanted to prove the reliability of our eco-friendly hybrid rally car and, in finishing the rally, the Prius did just that.
“It's been popular with visitors to our stand as well. People are genuinely surprised that a hybrid is capable of completing such a gruelling race.”
