Toyota Introduces D-CAT Concept For Clean Diesel Technology

Published: 31st May 2002
Toyota has announced an innovation to make future diesel powered cars cleaner.

D-CAT, or Diesel Clean Advanced Technologies, is a comprehensive clean diesel concept that includes a selection of Toyota's current and newly developed diesel technologies in the areas of catalyst, combustion, fuel injection and engine management systems.

The most important feature of D-CAT is Toyota's revolutionary DPNR (Diesel Particulate NOx Reduction system), the first catalyst system that allows simultaneous reduction of particulate matter and oxides of nitrogen in diesel exhaust emissions.

The launch of the D-CAT concept reinforces Toyota's commitment to being an environmental leader in Europe's ever growing diesel segment.

Toyota plans to introduce the D-CAT to the market from 2003 onwards.
