Toyota Aygo Wins Axa Northern Ireland Car Of The Year

The Toyota Aygo has been named AXA Northern Ireland Car of the Year 2006/2007.
The awards, which are sponsored by AXA Insurance, were presented by members of the Ulster Motoring Writers Association (UMWA) at a prestigious ceremony held in Belfast on 15 March.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Ulster Motoring Writers’ Association, Jim McCauley, said: “Of all the vehicles judged in this years competition the Toyota Aygo received the ultimate accolade for its charm, performance, economy and low running costs. Although one of three cars built on the same platform, the overall personality of the Aygo and the thorough integration of its corporate identity saw it nudge through to take the honours.”
The overall winner was chosen from the five group winners which were:

- Winner Toyota Aygo Runner-up Citroën C1
AXA Medium Car Category:
- Winner BMW 330d
- Runner-up VW Jetta 2.0 litre TDi
AXA Executive Car Category:
- Winner Lexus IS250
- Runner-up Jaguar XJ Diesel
AXA Sporting Car Category:
- Winner Audi RS4
- Runner-up Škoda Octavia VRS
AXA Leisure Car Category:
- Winner Range Rover Sport
- Runner Up Ford S-Max
AXA Safety Engineering Award:
- Winner Renault for 5* Euro NCAP
The UMWA comprises of members from across Northern Ireland and collectively the group covers in excess of 250,000 miles on the Province’s roads in one of the most demanding evaluations of new cars.
