The introduction of the new Jimny 1.3 JLX at the at the British International Motor Show in October, 1998, when it was the outright winner of the Show Award for Best Sports Utility Vehicle in the 'up to £20,000' category, further strengthened Suzuki's position as a market leader for innovative vehicles that complement and enhance their owners lifestyles.
Thanks to a continuous programme of development Suzuki has now produced and marketed over 23 million vehicles with easy to drive passenger cars and outstanding 4x4s. The new Jimny is the latest in this innovative line of distinctive vehicles with its concept resulting from years of experience and designed with customer choice very much at the forefront.
The youthful, fashionable looks of the Jimny make it an impressively bold and enjoyable 4x4 to be seen in and driven. Out of town, the 16-valve 1.3-litre petrol engine will willingly take the driver and passengers wherever they want to go, with the rugged and distinctive styling underpinned by a separate chassis and all-round coil suspension.
Yet because of its compact exterior dimensions and excellent manoeuvrability the Jimny has also been a great success with city dwellers because it can be driven and parked with comfort and ease, even in the most congested town centres.
