Suzuki Wagon R

Suzuki's market share in June, 2002 showed another year on year increase despite the first decline in the new car market for 20 consecutive months.

Overall, in the first six months of this year, Suzuki's sales have yet again grown steadily and now total 17,716 units, with the Company's year-to-date share of the car market now standing at 1.2%.

Sales of all products, passenger cars, 4x4s and light commercial vehicles, have all improved in the period and the Company is on target to achieve its overall goal for 2002 of around 34,000 unit sales.

Specifically, sales achievements for the January to June period in 2002 compared to the same six months in 2001, are:

  2002 2001 Increase
Cars [Alto, Ignis, Wagon R+ and Liana] 10,054 9,551 503
4x4s [Grand Vitara and Jimny] 6,375 5,997 378
Light Commercials [Carry van and pick-up] 1,287 1,131 156

"We are pleased with the success achieved so far in 2002" comments David G Seward, Suzuki's Sales and Marketing Director, "particularly as the market has become increasingly competitive and retail buyers are ever more aware of the exceptional offers available."

"For the September peak period we have already implemented further new and aggressive marketing strategies*, to focus firmly on providing optimum and unbeatable value-for-money, and will introduce two attractive and well priced all new models - the Alto and the Liana 4-door saloon - during the Autumn which will further enhance the appeal of the range." David Seward said.
