Christopher from Perthshire, first ran the 2.0 litre Legacy as a company car pounding the motorways of Scotland and the North West of England.
Then at 120,000 miles, he decided to buy it. As a precaution, the clutch was changed. Since then, nothing has worn out or been replaced apart from tyres.
"The secret is sticking to the regular service intervals and using genuine parts," said the financial services sector employee.
He added: "I originally chose a Subaru because my
wife, Paula, had enjoyed such good service from her little
Justy which she found great in the snow. She now runs a ‘P’
registration Legacy but that’s just a baby at 98,000
miles. I’d recommend a Subaru to anyone."
