Subaru Forester Turbo 2.5 Litre Unveiled

Outstanding Active And Passive Safety
The Forester XT’s active and passive safety measures include electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), four-channel, four-sensor anti-lock brakes and large-diameter ventilated front and rear discs.
Active front head-restraints reduce the risk of whiplash injuries while the passenger airbag is dual-stage allowing progressive protection during less severe impacts and total deployment in a more serious crash. Large side-airbags are also standard, protecting both the torso and head.
The Forester’s body is extremely strong yet light with new ring-shaped reinforcement frames for all pillars plus reinforced subframes - the front boasting 60 per cent more strength than the pre-2003 model.
High-tensile steel panels with tailored blanks are also used in key impact areas. These combine strength with good energy-absorbing properties, especially during side-impacts.
For the same reason, aluminium is used in the bumper beams, keeping down weight yet performing well in offset impacts.
Active safety – the ability to avoid a potential accident - is well catered for by the symmetrical AWD system and agile handling.
It is further boosted by the use of aluminium for the bonnet, front and rear bumper beams, roof rails and sunroof frames.
This lowers the centre of gravity and yaw moment of inertia. The result is extra stability, sharper steering response and reduced body roll.
