With a turbocharged 699 cc engine and power to weight ratio of 101 bhp per tonne, the roadster light delivers agile and exhilarating back to basics driving pleasure, with an even lower entry level price of £11,995.
In addition to sub-speed camera thrills, customers get a comprehensive list of standard equipment including 6-speed automatic transmission, electric windows, driver and passenger airbags, electrically assisted power steering and the advanced traction control system ESP (Electronic Stability Program). ESP includes additional functions which enhance the comfort and safety of the car; Hill Start Assist (HAS) and Hydraulic Brake Assist (HBA). A choice of six body panel colours, coupled with a black tridion safety cell, means that owners can tailor the car to suit their personality.
Jeremy Simpson, Head of smart in UK and Ireland said: "This latest addition to the roadster range means that even more customers can enjoy smart smiles per hour by taking advantage of this extremely competitive entry level price. By the end of the first quarter 2004 we expect to have sold 2,000 roadster and roadster coupé models in the UK since launch. The roadster light should further increase showroom traffic as the weather improves and customers’ thoughts turn to open top motoring."
An initial limited number of 400 right hand drive roadster lights will be available in UK retailers from March.
