Testing the smart for an extended period has become so popular that smart retailers in London, Manchester and Birmingham will now refund the cost of a weekend’s hire when you buy a car.
Nigel Hanley, for smart retail, said: "Many of our customers take a test drive from one of our showrooms, but then want to try the car for a week or weekend, to make sure it meets their needs.
"Taking a test drive can give you a taste for the car, but driving it all weekend and taking it to the supermarket, the drive thru or for a long run along the motorway really helps you decide if the smart fits with your lifestyle."

Prices start at £38.50 per day for the smart passion coupé or a weekend rate of £85. Prices include unlimited mileage and comprehensive insurance for up to three drivers.
