Smart Gets Fleet Vote

The prestigious award was voted for by the readers of Fleet Week and Fleet Management.
Tristan Young, Editor of Fleet Week, said: "Best City Car is a new category for the Fleet Excellence Awards and so it’s fitting that a new entrant to the market has won. The smart city-coupé was voted the winner because of its size, cost and high visibility.
Since its UK launch only two years ago, smart sales have increased dramatically. In 2002, more than 7,600 cars were sold, with an increasing number appearing on corporate fleets.
Tristan continued: "The smart city-coupé isn’t a typical fleet car in that it only has two doors and two seats. However it’s been sold very successfully to city fleets, who see it as providing high visibility at low cost."
Jeremy Simpson, Head of smart in the UK, said: "Exceptionally low carbon dioxide emissions, frugal fuel consumption and a low insurance grouping, coupled with incredibly good residual values, mean the whole life costs make smart an attractive proposition from a balance sheet point of view.
"smart is also the answer to the parking dilemma
faced by many large companies, as two smarts can be parked
in a normal-sized parking space."
