DaimlerChrysler UK Ltd has appointed Jeremy Simpson as Head of smart.
Jeremy joins smart during the second full operational year in the UK and at a time of rapid expansion for the smart brand.
The smart network has recently increased to six DaimlerChrysler UK owned smart centres and 39 smart franchises within Mercedes-Benz dealerships throughout the country.
Year to date registrations are 3,800 units, which means that more than 9,000 smart have been sold in the UK since launch in October 2000. The limited edition smart crossblade has just gone on sale and next year sees the launch of the dynamic and stylish smart Roadster and Roadster Coupe.
Jeremy, currently Sales Director Chrysler and Jeep, has previously worked within Mercedes-Benz and on a pan-brand role in used car sales, as well as 13 years in motor retailing.
Commenting on his new role, Jeremy said: "smart is an exciting lifestyle brand and I’m delighted to take this on during a period of rapid growth and expansion. My role is to continue the pioneering work that’s already been done to establish smart in the UK and ensure we give customers the best possible experience of buying, owning and living with their smart."

Jeremy is 36 years old and lives in Northamptonshire. He succeeds Walter Scherg who has moved to a new role within the DaimlerChrysler organisation.Published 11 July 2002
