smart Receives Lower Insurance Ratings At Last

smart drivers will pay lower insurance premiums following a reduction in fortwo insurance groups by the Association of British Insurers (ABI).

If the ABI ‘s member insurance companies adopt the reduced group ratings, then smart drivers may get a pleasant surprise when their premium renewals arrive.

In addition, the reduction in insurance groups has enabled smart to offer younger buyers of new smart cars the chance to have free insurance. The entry level fortwo pure, for example, has free insurance for one year for 18 year olds.

There is more good news for forfour customers, as smart is able to offer free insurance for drivers over the age of 21 for the first time on certain models.

Jeremy Simpson, Head of smart in the UK and Ireland, said: "We’re delighted with these revised insurance groupings as it’s a huge benefit for existing fortwo owners and it allows us to offer free insurance on some models for younger drivers."
