smart forfour
Build Quality
As you would expect of DaimlerChrysler the build quality is very good and the choice of materials are in keeping with smart's contemporary design ethos.
Value For Money
This is subjective - the forfour model range starts at £7,995 for the entry level forfour purestyle and rises to £17,195 for the BRABUS model effectively offering a forfour for every budget.
In our opinion some of the cost options should be standard throughout the model range such as a height adjustable drivers seat. But as we have seen with other smart models and the MINI people are prepared to pay for exclusivity and individuality.
All forfour's come with a 2-year unlimited mileage warranty, plus a 12-year warranty against rusting through from the inside to the outside.
Overall Opinion
smart have listened to customer demands for a 5-door hatchback and introduced the forfour which fulfils the need for a practical 4/5 seater without losing the character of the original 2 seater ‘smart car’.
The forfour feels a more complete car and is certainly fun to drive. The range of engines includes a blend of performance and economy and we were particularly impressed with the diesel engines and the 5-speed manual transmission both firsts for smart.
