smart forfour
How It Looks - Interior
The smart forfour's design-led interior stays faithful to smart's philosophy of minimalist fun. The interior door trim and instrument panel is matched to the seat fabric for a co-ordinated look. Our test car was equipped with the optional cockpit clock and engine temperature gauge which appear like periscopes popping up from the dashboard.

What We Liked
- Exterior and interior styling
- Range of refined and economical engines
- Handling
- High level of standard safety equipment
- Tardis-like interior space
- Both the 5-speed manual and 6-speed 'softouch plus' transmissions
What We Disliked
- Window switches positioned either side of the handbrake - fiddly to operate
What We'd Like To See
- Window switches conventionally located on the door panels
- Electric windows all round as standard
- Electrically operated and heated door mirrors as standard
