Warranties
The Skoda Superb comes with a two-year unlimited mileage factory warranty, plus a third year valid until the car has completed 60,000 miles. Additionally, the coverage includes a 10-year warranty against corrosion and a 3-year paint warranty. In common with all Skodas, the Superb is covered by a 3-year roadside assistance package that includes European cover. Warranty terms apply only to cars purchased in the UK.
EOBD On-board Diagnostics
All Skoda Octavia cars are equipped with "On Board Diagnostics" (abbreviated as EOBD - European On Board Diagnostics). This system monitors devices and instruments that influence the composition of the exhaust gas. If the monitored values exceed the set limits, a red warning light on the instrument panel will come on. The fault will be stored in the memory thus allowing service technician to find and remedy the problem more easily.
Flexible Service Intervals
Flexible service intervals have been applied to the new Skoda Octavia, making the servicing requirements among the best in the industry. The car can be set for fixed or variable servicing by the servicing technician. In fixed mode, the engine oil must be changed every 10,000 miles and an annual inspection must be carried out; these can be done simultaneously when the mileage and time requirements fall close together.
In the variable service setting, service intervals for petrol engines can be as long as 30,000 km, and for diesel engines, as long as 50,000 km, if certain conditions are observed. The time limit between servicing is a maximum of two years. The onboard computer determines the service intervals for each particular car, depending on how the vehicle has been used, and the timing is shown on a display located on the dashboard. In addition to a decrease in operating costs, variable service intervals also contribute positively to the environment by using long-life oils.
