Skoda Retailer Shows Support For Local St John Ambulance

Published: 12th May 2003
One of ŠkodaAuto’s first retailer-based Business Sales Centres, Barkers of Hull, has donated a brand new Octavia for use, free of charge, by the St John Ambulance in Humberside.

The Octavia SDI Classic hatchback was handed over in a ceremony at Barkers of Hull and is to be used by the St John Ambulance School Liason Officer, Mrs Rachel Fowler. It will be a key element in promoting the importance of first aid training in schools. This work is of vital importance to the local community as, during 2002 alone, Mrs Fowler trained over 1,000 pupils and 250 teachers in the skills of saving lives.

Mr Bev Meager, Group Managing Director of Barkers, is proud to be of assistance to the St John Ambulance, "Barkers of Hull are keen to demonstrate their support for community-based projects and we can think of nothing more deserving than this project which provides young people with essential life-saving skills. We are delighted with the partnership we have formed with this prestigious charity and are confident that our relationship will continue to grow."

Mr Richard Wright, Chief Executive of St John Ambulance is also delighted with the support given by Barkers. "Our work in schools, is an essential part of our missions to promote first aid training among young people in the area. This generous assistance given by Barker of Hull is greatly valued."
