The first Skoda Octavia was produced between 1959 and 1971 and the name was reintroduced in 1996, when the current Octavia was launched in the Czech Republic. In recent years Skoda has undergone a total brand rejuvenation with a range of products that are both credible and desirable. The Octavia was launched in the UK in 1997 and is regarded as the car that convinced the British public that Skoda was a manufacturer they could trust.
Skoda has a long history of rally success, most recently with the Octavia WRC rally car and this heritage has been passed onto the consumer with the development of the road-going Skoda Octavia vRS. The Octavia vRS shares the same engine as the Audi TT 1.8 180 bhp and we tested the estate version to find out if it is a credible contender within the competitive hot estate segment.
